Single or double wall?
Not all corrugated board is the same. Here is how to choose between single wall and double wall for your boxes.

How corrugated board is made
Corrugated board is made of flat paper liners glued to one or more layers of wavy paper, the flute. The flutes work like small arches: they make the board light but rigid and absorb knocks.
Single wall
One layer of flute between two flat liners. It is thinner and lighter, folds well and prints well. It suits light products, packaging, shop boxes and self-assembly boxes.
Double wall
Two layers of flute, one on top of the other. It is thicker and much stronger against knocks, crushing and stacking. It is the right choice for courier shipping, medium to heavy loads and moving house.

What if I need a different board?
Single and double wall are the most common, but we can make boxes in any type of board: micro-flute, white, coloured or laminated with special papers. Tell us what you have in mind.
Not sure which to choose? If the box travels with a courier, start from double wall.
Frequently asked questions
Does double wall cost more?
It uses more paper, so it usually costs a little more than single wall. In return it protects better and often prevents breakages and returns.
Which board do you use for self-assembly boxes?
For self-assembly boxes we usually use micro-flute board, which is finer, folds well and is good for printing.
Do the outside dimensions change with the board?
Yes: with the same inside dimensions, double wall is thicker so the box is slightly bigger on the outside. We explain this in the guide How to measure a box.
